✈️ Why I Built AirportMix!

Smart airport combinations

I used to fly a lot. For work, short breaks, family visits – and every single time I booked a flight, I ran into the same frustration.

Flight search engines weren’t actually smart.

They showed flights – but not always the best routes. Nearby airports were ignored. Airlines weren’t mixed intelligently. And they rarely helped answer the real question:

What’s the best balance between time, money, flexibility and convenience for this trip?

After running into the same problem over and over again, I realized something had to change. So I built my own solution. Welcome to AirportMix.

The idea behind AirportMix

Most travelers search one airport at a time. Amsterdam to Bali. London to Rome. New York to Madrid.

But in reality, smarter airport combinations often exist nearby.

For example: instead of flying Amsterdam → Dubai → Bali, a traveler might sometimes find a much better combination like:

  • ✈️ Eindhoven → Istanbul with a low-cost airline
  • ✈️ Istanbul → Bali on a separate long-haul route

Or instead of returning to the same airport, it may be smarter to fly into Pisa and return from Bologna during an Italy road trip.

These are the types of airport combinations AirportMix is designed to discover automatically.

How AirportMix works

  • 🔍 Compares multiple nearby airports in one search
  • 🛫 Mixes airlines and airport combinations intelligently
  • 🚆 Takes travel infrastructure into account (trains, buses, access time)
  • 📅 Works for one-way, return and flexible multi-airport trips

AirportMix is built for travelers who want to fly smarter – not just cheaper or faster.

Why I use Aviasales (and how it powers AirportMix)

Most flight platforms focus on selling a ticket. But they often miss the strategy behind the route.

Aviasales allows AirportMix to compare routes across airlines and airports in ways many traditional booking engines do not. That flexibility is exactly what makes smarter airport combinations possible.

Instead of opening 10 browser tabs and manually comparing airports, AirportMix helps bring those options together in one overview.

The difference is in the details

AirportMix isn’t just about saving €40 on a ticket. It’s about making better travel decisions:

  • Do I leave from Eindhoven for lower prices?
  • Or Schiphol for comfort and flight frequency?
  • Does arriving at Charleroi make more sense than Brussels?
  • Would a nearby airport create a better return route?

Sometimes the smartest route is not the obvious one.

“Smart flights, smarter travelers. No accounts. No ads. Just better route combinations.”

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by flight options, unsure if you’re getting a good deal, or stuck manually comparing airports and airlines – AirportMix was built for you.

AirportMix is built by someone who has booked the wrong airport, overpaid for convenience, underestimated transfer times, and learned that airport strategy can completely change a trip.

It’s how I book flights now – and I think you’ll want to, too.
